Welcome to a new week!

Greetings from the 4th grade!  There is so much going on this week.  We had our spelling pretest today and the spelling packets went home.  Please have your child study so he or she is ready for their test on Friday.

This Thursday is our Art Prize field trip.  We have plenty of chaperones for this trip (Stephanie Stotts, Lora Bennett, Clare Portinga, Wendy Moore and Jackie Wesche).  Please check to see if your child will want hot lunch on Thursday.  We need to get a count to Mrs. Renee by tomorrow.

Next week Thursday will be our field trip to Lansing.  We will be taking a charter bus to the Capitol.  Home and School will be picking up the majority of this cost, however we are asking each student to pitch in $5.00.  If this is a problem, please let Mrs. Gage know.  We will be leaving at approximately 8:30 AM and returning right before 3:00 pick-up.  Please remember to send a bagged lunch and drink (no soda please) with your child on that day.  There is also a gift shop that your child may shop in after lunch.  Permission slips for this field trip will go home tomorrow.

Happy Thursday!

Today the children helped with a communion service.  We were supposed to have a full mass, but Fr. Rock (who was filling in for Fr. Tom) had something come up and could not make it.  The children did a fabulous job.  You all would be very proud!

A permission slip for our Art Prize field trip went home earlier in the week.  Most if not all of the children have returned theirs.  Our trip will be next Thursday October 4th.  We will eat lunch prior to our departure.  Mrs. Renee in the lunch room will make sure hot lunch is available early to the children who would like to order it.  Can you please let us know if your child will be ordering hot lunch ahead of time?  That way we can let Renee know how many lunches we will need.

On October 11th the 4th grade will be going on our annual Capitol Trip.  This is a trip many incoming 4th graders look forward to!  We will arrive at the Capitol around 9:30 AM.  We will tour the museum and then the Capitol building.  Children will be asked to bring bagged lunches and a drink (no soda please).  They will also have an opportunity to shop in the museum gift shop.  If you would like to send money along for shopping, please feel free to do so, however, the children will be responsible to keep track of their own money as well as any purchases.  Finally, we are hoping to take a bus to Lansing this year, but we will still need chaperones.  Let us know if you are interested.  Keep an eye out for permission slips which will be coming home next week!
Don't forget, casual day tomorrow!!!

Wednesday September 26, 2012

Happy Wednesday.  My apologies for not having the blog up to date!  I have been running into some "technical difficulties" but am fairly certain all of the "bugs" have been worked out.
Here are some upcoming events:
  • Tomorrow, Thursday September 27th, the 4th grade will be assisting Father with Mass.  If your child has a part he/she should be practicing any readings they might have.  Mass is at 8:30 tomorrow.  Please feel free to join us.
  • Friday is casual day (the first of the year)!
  • Next week Thursday (October 4th) the 4th grade will be going downtown to Art Prize.  Permission slips went home yesterday.  Please sign and return them to school as soon as possible.  This is a free field trip with bus transportation.  If you are interested in chaperoning, please fill out the bottom of the permission slip.
  • Just a reminder, please make certain your child's hotlunch account has $$ in it.  If you would like, there is an option on the hotlunch website to have recurring deposits if the dollar amount you choose gets low, texts that can be sent to your phone as a reminder, and much more.
  • Please work on multiplication tables/facts on a regular basis with your child...it will make their math class so much easier.
Homework
Spelling- Packets are due Friday.  Spelling test this Friday.

Have a wonderful evening!
